Yup I do Kate We can have special days where we are promted to write more. I know you'll do well too Because even if you don't hit 50k you still went for it, and that's what matters. Okay! So, should we assign a special day now? Or wait to see how it's going for everyone?

How is everyone's NaNoPrep going? I had one of those weird moments yesterday. One of the plot points is that the heroine's 'mother' (Ealswitha - King Ælfred’s Consort) is very religious and so supports Shara's 'dream'. I pictured her habitually reading from a small prayerbook. But then I thought 'did Anglo-Saxon ladies even have personal prayerbooks?' So off to Google I went and found that there is one in the British Library that is thought to have belonged to Ealswitha!!! (It is known as The Book of Nunnaminster.) So I am taking that as a sign... Dennis, I'm echoing everyone else -- that is a sign and you are soooo lucky!! I want a sign. I didn't get any NaNo prep done other than my pitch. So, it's pantsing for me again.

Hey Scree did you send one of your pirates over to Kate's story?? Well there are so many it's hard to keep track of all of them... *does a pirate roll call* Erm... two missing... But there was a big space battle on Monday, so it's been a bit hectic over here... My apologies in advance if one of them has become entangled in the space-time continuum and woken up in Vietnaam... If you could find a time machine and send him back to me at: Bernard's Bar Auberoche Vale The Future That would be great ;D

I've really gone and done it now... My poor pirate cruiser has just decided to go on a rescue mission against a battleship, which is pretty-much one of the most powerful classes of ship in the galaxy (second only to the dreadnaught class and a few prototype behemoths which I haven't even mentioned in my notes). There's no way they'd realistically win, so I'm either going to end up accidentally killing everyone before I'm even halfway through the story, or having to choreograph some pretty unrealistic heroics... It's not even like they have any backup to call on - they're pirates; they prefer to work alone..!

Or, maybe the captain of the battleship thinks they can win this battle with no problem, so he puts his apprentice in the driver's seat to give him a chance to be the victor? But the apprentice is too unskilled and makes a major tactical error? (forgive my obvious lack of knowledge of terminology, but I figure you get the general idea).

Aww hell yeah! I think I'm more proud of that chapter than I've ever been of anything I've written.
*happy dance*
You'll have to read it to find out how my main characters overcame this particular hurdle ;D
