Hi Buddhaful! So glad to see you around these parts! I love many of those same authors, although I can't say I've read anything by Terry Prachett. What does he/she write? I hope you share some of your poetry on here! Limebirdkate Hey Kate, Thought i'd jump in and answer this for you Terry Prachett is a he and he writes some brilliant fantasy books with lots of humour. His imagination is amazing i would love to have his head for a day anyway if your looking to read some his work i would pick something from his Discworld Series, Mort is my favorite it tells of a young boy sold to death to be his apprentice, i dont want to spoil it so i will stop there. As far as i know you can read any of the discworld books in any order its just that they all centre around the same universe. Here's a link to his site for you to have a look if interested. www.terrypratchettbooks.com/index.php/books#Hi Kate, I agree with Sophie - I love Discworld. I liked the one Sophie mentioned and my other favorites are Going Postal and Making Money. These can be read out of order. =)

Hi Buddhaful, Hello and welcome the the Limebird Writers' Forum! Lovely! I'm so glad that you have decided to pursue what makes you happy! Fantastic, I'm glad you thought of us to help with any questions along the way, and please do feel free to ask away! I am also a big fan of Pratchett, but I have to say I haven't read anything by Amy Tan. Would I have heard of any of her work? Bx Thanks Beth. Amy Tan wrote the Joy Luck Club which was made into a movie. I've enjoyed all her books, particularly The Hundred Secret Senses and Kitchen God's Wife www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&rh=n%3A283155%2Ck%3AAmy%20Tan&page=1

Oh I would love to still be in North London but with a new baby and not being able to afford much more than a one-bedroom flat in London, we decided to move near to my sister in Crowthorne.
Ha-ha, yes I'd probably rather do rock choir, but there isn't one close by, so choral society it was. Be brave and go by yourself - you'll get to know people there!
And thank you for asking about the books - they're available through all the major online retailers - free on all aside from Amazon, who are making me charge, grr.

I’m originally from Middlesex so I’m from round that way! Oh right, yes I would love to, but it’s also very expensive unfortunately! Oh no that’s a pain. Why don’t you post the links in the novel section so we can all find them? limebird.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=novels

Hi,
I'm German but write in English as I've lived here 20 years. I'm hoping to be published one day... my main writing is m/m erotica and I've added BDSM. So far I'm honing my skills with fanfiction, but Nanowrimo 2011 produced my first original 50 k words that need editing and tying to find a publisher for.
Besides that I work full time and have a family to care for.
so yeah, that's me...

Hi all, my name is Charlotte Morganti. I live and write on the west coast of Canada, where currently winter has hit with a very wet vengeance. I have a blog (http://morgantiwrites.com) about writing. One manuscript currently being revised and several more crashing around in my head. Looking forward to staying in touch.

Hi Jeffrey. I did NaNo too. What a fabulous experience it was. I think anyone who took part and made the effort to write was a winner. I am just like you in that I keep buying books that look interesting when I still have masses to read. My to-be-read pile is enormous now and keeps on growing. I got a Kindle for Christmas and it is proving soooo addictive. The only trouble is, I am trying to concentrate on my own novel and also I have just started a writer's course and with having to go to the day job every day reading time is getting squeezed out at the moment which is a bit grim. Well done on the tough skin! I feel that is going to be my major problem as I would take criticism so personally and that's why I still haven't shown anyone my writing! The writing course is partly about having the guts to send work off to be critiqued for every assignment and taking the punches! Nice to meet you "formally" Hello Sharon! NaNo was a wonderful experience indeed! It's a unique group to be apart of, and yet, one that represents the singular craziness of certain writers. In regards to your Kindle, congrats! I have one of the older versions, but wow...you can put a heck of a lot of books on one, minus the weight of the actual books. Time for writing is always a barrier for folks like us, but I have been told many times, "You don't find time to write, you make time!" Good luck with your tough skin, you don't get it by too much sun tanning , but realize not to take any criticism personally. It was hard for me at the beginning, but after I received my first rejection letter, I thought, "Wow, at least I got some kind of recognition for my manuscript." Good Luck with the writing course. Just remember, write, write, write, and write some more. Jeffrey

Hi I'm Raven. I'm new to writing, but I was directed here by whatever you'd call that: fate, God, the Universe. Sounds strange, but then that is my life. I definitely have a story or two to tell and I hope to help other Indie writers along the way!

Hi all, I am a 50 year old British man now living in Pretoria, South Africa (although I have moved around a lot, this is where I am planning on staying). I have always loved reading, but went many years without writing. (Here is a blog post that outlines a negative experience I had with an English teacher... bit.ly/fbG7Vw ). I started writing poetry again around six years ago and, after much nagging from my partner, finally published a collection in 2010. I heard about NaNoWriMo on 31st Oct 2010 and so jumped in without any preparation, but managed to finish! I left the novel to percolate and I am now finishing it off. In the meantime I wrote a range short stories, almost had one published in an anthology (as they loved it - but it didn't quite fit with what they wanted). I have also been concentrating of science fiction poetry rather than general (two of my poems being broadcast on www.starshipsofa.com ). Once my novel is sent off to a publisher I will be going back over my 2011 output and putting a collection of poems, short stories, drabbles etc. together. I also contribute a monthly film review to the StarShipSofa, looking at old movies, and an article of mine is in StarShipSofa Stories Volume 3. I read a lot, normally having something non-fiction on the go, something on my Kindle in my bag and something on paper by the bed. Currently that means "Trick or Treatment" by Edzard Ernst and Simon Singh, "The Ask and the Answer" by Patrick Ness on my Kindle and "The Stone Canal" by Ken MacLeod by the side of the bed. I tried for NaNoWriMo 2011, but didn't manage to cross the line due to work commitments and travel. However, I will be finishing the piece "Unmedicated" as a novella at some point in the future. I started a script a few years back, picturing it as an anime style movie. "Faerie Fire" has gone through a number of incarnations and may also come out as a novella, although probably not until early January 2013. I also enjoy painting, and an oil that I did in 2010 is the cover of "8 Million Stories" plus I have also completed a watercolour for "Talatu" which will be used if I have to go the self-publishing route. I think that's enough to be starting with! I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi Dennis, Welcome along to the Limebird Forums! Wow, what a wonderful place to live. My colleague is from Cape Town and he shown me loads of lovely pictures! I just read the blog post, what a terrible teacher! I’m sorry that you had that experience, what a shame! I also took part in NaNo this year for the first time and somehow managed to win, (not sure how this happened though!) but I’m not sure if I’m going to go back to it. It’s the ‘Written In Pencil’ novel that you commented on! Fantastic, how great that you published your collection! What great achievements to do with your writing, poetry, novellas, scripts, etc! Yes, I enjoyed the first part of Tatalu, and would like to read some more of that for sure. Thank you for your great introduction and I’m looking forward to reading some more of your work!
