I am a wife, mother and grandmother, recently retired from a successful corporate career. Now I get to be the writer I always wanted to be. I've won a few short fiction contests, attended lots of writers' conferences, completed NaNoWriMo for the past seven years, and I'm working on two novels simultaneously. I also post to my blog almost daily - a good warm up exercise for a writing session. Happy to be a part of Limebird! Hi Wendy! Welcome to Limebird! How lovely to learn a bit more about you and I hope we can learn some more soon! Please do nosey around and post anywhere that takes your fancy! B

A friend over at Writers Market (the wise and learned Mr M G Kizzia) suggested I come over here. You should probably have words with him about that. With writs. Writs with nails in... . So who am I? Over on my web site (www.graeme-smith.net), after I've blethered some, I say I'm a keyboard called Graeme. Which is sort of true. I'm just the fingers. I also say I'm short, fat, bald and ugly - which is totally true. Fortunately, my wife has lousy taste in men ;D. Oh - and I write Fantasy. Mostly Comic Fantasy - well, it is if you laugh when you read it . My first book was co-written for and published by a small online gaming company, mostly for their players (though written to be readable by non-players as well). It's still out there if anybody wants to find it. But don't blame the company for the formatting - that was all me. I'm better now (as in recovered, not more talented ). My second book (though first mass market) - 'A Comedy of Terrors' - was released as an eBook by MuseitUp Publishing on June 14th. They're publishing another (non-related) book of mine (Road like a River) in January 2012, and I have a third book about to go looking for a contract as soon as I have some more self-editing done. So this is me - Graeme Smith. Short, fat, bald and ugly . I used to work on a psychiatric ward. Now I write about people who believe in things like magic and dragons - and who live where the crazy folk are the ones who don't.

Hi all, I'm Oli or LordScree. I really enjoy writing and will happily write a short story on any topic. I did try writing a novel in a month once (for nanowrimo.org/), but it didn't go very well, so I generally stick to short stories now. My claim to fame is that I won first prize and £18 in a local short story competition in 2011. After this achievement, I have now retired and generally just write for my own pleasure. I am looking for some support this NaNoWriMo though. Who's with me? ~LordScree

Thanks, both, for the warm welcome. Amber, I just read your Nano profile. It's scary how similar it is to the way things have been for me (tried nano; became overwhelmed; gave up; missed a year; started a new account - even down to the bit where I found out my previous account name (Queez) was a rude word...?!). I'm a little bit scared now, but I'm sure I'll get over it Look forward to Nano-ing with you both, And thanks for the grats - if anyone wants to read the story that won me that prize, it's called "Beasts" and I put it on my blog ( www.scree.co.uk/2011/06/beasts.html). Oli

Afternoon All,
My name's Laura and although I've been following Limebird on Twitter for a while, it was only today that I clicked on their link and wandered through the site, found some groovy sounding people with creativity buzzing through their fingertips and thought I needed to come here. So, Hello!
It's not easy being a 'writer', especially as most writers around the world get paid nothing. It's like running or playing chess, you don't have to be a pro to call yourself a writer. You just have to write. And love it when you do (most of the time) I write short stories, a couple of which have been published, poems (generally for use at my friend's weddings!) and am writing a novel. My first chapter came runnerup in a national competition recently, which is heartening to know you might be on the right track. I also have a couple of blogs.
I am a techno-phobe, so if I manage to put posts in the wrong threads, reply on the wrong page and delete things - it's all a big accident. Apologies in advance fellow writers!
Laura

Hi Everyone,
My name is David and I am a psychology graduate. I recently returned from traveling around the world and hope to study medicine in 2014. I like writing but often make silly grammatical mistakes and annoy some of my more particular friends (grammar police). There is definitely some room for improvement on my part, most of the time it's because I am lazy!
Nice to meet you all,
David
