Hello and welcome to the Limebird Writer's Forum!
Please do introduce yourself here and let us know a bit more about what type of writing you do and what you're interested in.
My name is Beth and I'm the founder of Limebird. I'm currently working as a Copywriter, but have a background in English and Journalism. I enjoy lots of writing (which I'm sure you can imagine) and I also enjoy reading and music.

Hey there! I'm a twenty something year old girl! I am just finishing my undergraduate studies in Marketing, Economics and Industrial Psychology. I recently started writing for fun, English is my second language, so bare with me if I make mistakes! I would love to improve my writing. I am a bit confused about my future I have so many hobbies and interest so hopefully writing about them will help me figure out what I want to be when I "grow up" . I love traveling, photography, surfing and the outdoors in general. I also like to read although I get bored easily! But yeah enough about me! Hopefully I get to meet a few friends on here that share my interest in writing! Let the games begin!!! *inspiredtomove*

Hello Inspiredtomove and welcome to Limebird!
Wow, that degree sounds like quite a lot of work, where are you studying? Well, it’s pretty impressive that you can speak more than one language, I am very jealous. What is your first? (lots of questions!)
I think most people don’t really know what they want to do, I’m still trying to figure it out. It’s great that you love writing, so that’s always a good start. That’s a shame about getting bored, maybe you haven’t found the right book yet!
Thanks for your post and I look forward to hearing more about your writing soon!

Thanks I study at The University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. My first language is Afrikaans, it's similar to Dutch. Yeah maybe I have not found the right one. I always read them about half way, then I find a new one that seems more appealing! Copy Writing sounds awesome! There is a post graduate course on that at AAA school in Cape Town that is supposed to be really good. Might look into that. It sounds like a super competitive field though! Do you think creative writing is something you can learn to be good at or something you are just born with? I2M

Oh wow, yes I’m aware of Afrikaans, my colleague is from South Africa! No, I don’t think so. What type of genre do you like to read? Maybe I could think of one to recommend. Well, yes it is and it isn’t! You’ve got to not mind writing in large quantities and sometimes on subjects that aren’t overly interesting! It is quite a competitive field but if you’re passionate you can do anything you put your mind to I think! Well, that’s a tricky question. I think it’s helpful to have a basic love for writing, but there’s always things you can learn to get better at writing. Like theory for example or different techniques, if that makes sense?

Ummm I like philosophy books like "sophies world", I recently read Eat Pray Love well half of it ha ha I really enjoy reading about traveling! (Like your blog ) I guess there isn't really one specific genre I like. My friend suggested I read "the Sound of Paper" by Julia Cameron, do you know if its any good? How did you decide on Copy Writing?

Yes, I did enjoy Sophie’s World. However, I did read it at quite a young age, so I have to admit I did skip some of the heavy bits! How about ‘The Magus’ by John Fowles? It’s a bit older, but it’s kind of magical/philosophical. Which you may enjoy! Well, I like to read a bit of everything, so friend recommendations are definitely a good way to go I think. No, I haven’t actually heard of that before. Just had a little look and it’s a non-fiction book right? Well, anything to expand the mind and help the creative process along can’t be bad I didn’t necessarily decide on it as such, it chose me really. I’ve worked in some different industries and this job came up so I went for it. I had to do some writing for them to see and they liked it, so here I am.

Hi everyone, my name is Mike. I first met Beth (or is that, Spock?) at a friend's fancy-dress birthday party and we have been sharing lively writing-related facebook chat ever since! I currently work as a writer / journalist for a dental PR company based in Whitstable. I would say more, but then I guess I need some material to use in my 'about me' article! :-)

Hi everyone, I'm James. I find myself on here due to my avid use of Twitter! Beth was kind enough to invite me. I'm a third year student of English Literature studying at Leeds Metropolitan University - on track for an upper second at least, so I'm fancying an MA in Contemporary Literature and/or Creative Writing as soon as I can. I'm soon being published as part of an Anthology that has been put together by myself and nine other Leeds Met students, is prefaced by a senior lecturer and is being funded by the Student's Union. I enjoy writing existential and confessional poetry and hope to one day write a novel or two. Sylvia Plath and J.M. Coetzee inspire me the most.

Hello James and welcome along to the Limebird Writers Forum! Are you enjoying your degree so far? I also did an English Literature degree, but found it a little heavy sometimes with the amount of reading! Especially books that I wasn't overly interested in. (shh, don't tell anyone) The MA sounds like a great idea. I really wanted to do some further studies, but never really settled on what exactly it was that I wanted to do. What a great achievement to be published! You'll have to post us some extracts when it's all done! I have set up a poetry section now in the forums, so we would love to hear some of your work. With regards to the novels, why not join us in NaNoWriMo? - limebird.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=writingmonthSpeak soon! Beth

Please do post us any extracts etc in the Limebird Writing Showcase area! Beth

I'm looking forward to seeing your posts too as it's always exciting to get an insight from someone who's actually completed the mammoth task of writing a novel (and self published at that!) Beth

Greetings to you one and all! My name is Alex and I live in Irkutsk, Russia. I blog about life and culture in our part of Asia. I am fascinated by art, different cultures and peoples, and how they influence one another and society. I would like to write about the grittiness of life over here, (in book form) but approach that goal with great trepidation. I could use help, and not just with punctuation. Hopefully this citrus fledgling will take off like . . . a box of limes?
Best Wishes, Alex

I like the idea of it being a citrus fledgling! Beth
