Whilst reading LimeBirdCat's recent story post, I was surprised by the complete lack of single and double quotes (' and "). I couldn't imagine Cat leaving them out, so I did some investigating and discovered that they appear fine when the forum is viewed in a browser, as opposed to the app! Further research threw up this thread on the proboards support forum: support.proboards.com/thread/393400/quotes-appearingIt turns out the problem is with the app's support for UTF-8 character encoding (for the uninitiated, this relates to the way in which characters are stored when they're not being viewed by humans). There are actually several types of single/double quotes that can be used (e.g. slanty ones and unslanty ones) and the forum only seems to support one type. In summary, LimeBirdCat's off the hook (of course!) and if, like me, you are reading posts and wondering where all the punctuation is, try viewing the post in the browser because it's more likely to be an IT issue than an author issue For authors, you can ensure you're using supported quotes by pasting your text into Notepad before copy/pasting it into the forum. Alternatively, you can set up Word (or your other, non-Microsoft, document editor) to only use supported quotes. If anyone would like to know how, I can provide instructions
