Is anyone planning on sharing their NaNo project around? I (kind of) like mine enough to spread it around the 'net. Mostly because it's not good enough for publishing. (I can already tell that, once I'm finished with it, I'm not going to want to go back and do those careful edits that submission-worthy pieces should receive.) So...military sci-fi action/adventure with societal commentary, anyone?

Military sci-fi with social commentary?? Have you been reading over my shoulder I'd absolutely love to read it. I'm keen to get mine published, so I'm going to keep it close for now

What an interesting genre, Mayumi! I am sure it's a great read because I always enjoy the snippets that you post on your blog.
I'm hoping to turn mine into something publishable, so I won't be sharing anything until I get a couple more drafts under the belt. Then I'm sure I'll be looking for a beta reader or a writing group.

Thanks, all! It would be great to get some feedback about the story, too...once I decide the best place to put the darn thing.

Hmm, I'm not sure about mine. I don't think it was my best work! I haven't touched my 11' one either!

Beth, tut, tut!
In the immortal words of Lord Tennyson;
When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made!
Such effort put in one month's writing. To not to do something with it would be folly! Otherwise, why charge in the first place?

I'm not seeing this year's NaNo as my best work, either, Beth...but I'm still interested in letting other people take a look. I'm an attention-hound, that way.

I'm uncertain anyone in the world will ever read this year's NaNo. I'd like to, but I know last year's book took ten months to get in shape to release, and looking at what I did this time around, that's a LOT of opportunity cost. But who knows? Maybe I'll read it in a month and fall back in love with it...

I decided to go ahead and share mine, messy, plothole-y draft and all. The more I've been thinking about it, though, the more I think I might want to get it a bit more polished. Not necessarily for publishing (because I'm increasingly thinking that's just not for me), but just to make myself a better storyteller. I don't know if it's acceptable etiquette to post a link to the PDF in this forum, but if anyone's interested in reading the story proper (it doesn't include the backstory stuff), you can let me know here? Or, feel free to contact me by the email in my profile? Is that okay? I hope to read others' NaNo projects, too! If not here, then maybe on my bookshelf.
