Loupy, it was! Don't often get days like that so it will sustain me for quite a while, I hope!

Sharon, that's great you had such a fantastic day. I think you're right. You've got a guardian angel out there that's encouraging you to follow your dream!

Blimey Sharon, that day sounds amazing! How fantastic to hear that you are feeling confident and that you got a tax rebate! I got one of those recently and it was amazing! Whenever you are ready, there are a few people here who would LOVE to read some of your novel! Good luck and keep on writing!

Beth I think you're amazing, not only for posting what that person said but for taking it all on the chin and sharing with us! I think you are right to be so positive. I know that there is no way that EVERYBODY will like my book. I will be over the moon if just one person tells me they loved it. I really, really want to do this so I am going to have to get over the sensitivity. One thing I have noticed from this forum and from all the authors and bloggers and agents etc that I follow on Twitter is that the writing community, in general, is very supportive of its members. Authors are always encouraging and publicising other writers' work and I find that really lovely. The people on this forum have already been so kind and positive that I feel much better and braver already, and I've only been a member for a couple of days. I know some days will be harder than others, and some days I'll wish I'd never mentioned my book to anyone, but mostly I feel that I will succeed in one way or another. Thanks to all of you for all your support and advice. I really appreciate it. Aww thank you Sharon, that's so kind! I've definitely noticed that too! Generally speaking, everyone is so supportive because we are all in the same boat. It's only natural though to feel hurt if someone puts something bad about something that you have put a lot of effort in to. I am so happy that this forum is making you feel confident! I set up Limebird for just that - for there to be somewhere for writers to get constructive advice and tips from other writers. Also, somewhere where we can all encourage each other to become the best we can be. You can do it Sharon!

Editing is so... a thing that needs to be done. My best suggestion would be put together a team to help out. I've got a group writers, readers and a couple of copy-editors beta-reading me, and while a crowd put together from your idiot friends is less consistent than a professional, once you have a team you trust it's a lot more directly involved.

Yes, a team of various writers is a great way to help out with the editing side...and it's even better (for everyone) when you have a few individuals who are skilled in different areas of crafting a book. Such as someone who knows grammar, someone who is fantastic with structure, someone who can pick apart dialogue...you get the idea!
