Good luck you guys! I don't think I can even manage that, I am so insanely busy! Keep us updated! I think you can do a book a month with us And hahaha, Loupy, that is too funny. Are you going to read it? You should. Then tell him it is amazing and he should read it. And maybe it will be ok, you never know! I don't know much about Snookie, maybe you'll get a laugh or two?

Hi Guys, I've been pretty absent from the forums so firstly HI *waves*. I like this idea of a reading challenge and now i have my kindle *swoon* i'm definitely interested, but 10 books in january thats 1 every 3 days! dunno if ill make it to be honest! So if noone minds i think i will try a little personal challenge of 24 books this year starting from January of course thats only 2 books a month so it shouldn't be too hard to achieve but will still make sure i keep reading as i regularly get distracted by other things and go months without picking up a book. So Thanks for putting a great idea out there and i'll keep you updated on how i get on Soph

You know....10 books didn't sound that bad until now LOL Just don't try to read Stephen King's Under the Dome, or The Stand, or the Illiad or something and we might be Ok.
And I'd love one of the new kindles. I have an E-Reader, which is great, but its a bit buggy and sometimes I have to reboot it and stuff. Oh well, it was super cheap! That's probably why LOL.

Haha otta and loupy i have full confidence that you can do it! and you know even if you only manage 6-8 books you've of hopefully still of read 6-8 books that maybe you wouldnt of otherwise got round to so please keep us updated ... maybe i should start a new thread but as i'm here what kind of genre books are you guys into? Personally i love a good sci-fi/fantasy especially the tacky romance ones, i dont know why coz they are normally super cheesy but i find them so relaxing to read

That's true! Even if we don't get to 10 we still get to read and reading is better than not reading! I love horror, sci-fi and young adult novels --especially if they are about crazy dystopian futures. I know a couple of books I think I'll read in January -- I picked up the latest Ellen Degeneres book and since she's my best friend (I wish!) I think I should read it. "Peeps" by Scott Westerfeld , I think its about vampires? Not too sure. And I think my hubby is going to hold me to reading that Snookie book LOL , We'll see how that goes!

Ha Ha Loupy sounds like you like a lot of the same books i do. Gotta love a good dystopian future story and i love Ellen although probably for different reasons . I have my first 2 books planned and thats the 2nd and 3rd books of the hunger games trilogy. i read the first one a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it and as they are now making a movie i think i should read the whole trilogy. After that who knows i still have a good 6 books left of the Kelly Armstrong Otherworld series and hopefully a couple of new Illona Andrews books (which if you like sci-fi/fantasy you should definitely check out).

I read anything that I decide looks cool ._. I love a good scifi and good dystopia, I'm getting into horror a bit, I like uhh, wait. I don't know @.@ Yeah, I just read whatever . I haven't read much lately sadly Everyone keeps talking about the Hunger Games, Sophie ._.,, Makes me want to read it more haha. I think I may have to! I tried to read "House of Leaves" because it was supposed to be "so freaky" but it was boring.. I like Ted Dekker a lot, or I did at least. He got to where he tired me too. I could have burned myself out. Hopefully I'll be better and can devour a book of his in one sitting again come January. I have about 4 books unread of him.

Have to agree the first book was a massive page turner. Kept doing the ole ..just one more paragraph then ill do some work and before i know it its 4am and im turning the last page!
I know what you mean otta about author burnout, i'm like that with the kelly armstrong books i read about 4 and then i just need to stop for a couple months. The only Author i can read non-stop is patricia cornwell, i just read her newest book in the Kay Scarpetta series "Red Mist" and its another cracking book although a little short.

In fairness I do generally aim for 52 books a year, though this year I've only done 32 because of work mainly, and spending more time WRITING, and less time READING. Hopefully next year I'll be nearer my goal! :-p
(FYI, two years ago I think my best ever result was about 60 in a single year!)

So, I'm 178 pages into my first book (out of 417 pages). Right now I'm reading Extras by Scott Westerfeld. Today has been a really lazy day for me though, after New Years Eve..... haven't felt like doing much if you know what I mean.

Well just a little update, I managed to read the remaining two hunger game books (catching fire and mockingjay) I really enjoyed them although I was a team gale kinda gal I'd say more but don't want to spoil them! I'm now on my 3rd book of the year love and honour it's a super cheesy lesbian romance novel based around the secret service, FBI etc but there easy reads at the time of year when ur suffering through too many carbs and way too much alcohol. Anyway as I said just a quick update on progress I'm considering a little side challene of reading the lord of the rings trilogy as I tried at 14 and failed miserably. I'm hoping nearly a decade older I can tackle them and succeed has anyone else read them? Soph x
